Cyclists Invade: The War on Cars
First our roads, next our lifestyle - Here's how you can fight back.
I was driving home from work when I saw a cyclist using the full lane. There was a bike lane right there! I couldn't believe my eyes so I honked and they told me they have the right to the road.
The next day I was going to the store and there was someone walking into the store wearing a bike helmet. They had a reusable bag. Talk about virtue signaling!
Little did I know these incidents were only the first in a long line of entitled cyclists thinking they have the right to use my roads...
The first thing cyclists will tell you is they have the same right to the road as anyone else. This varies per state, but in most states the law is wrong. Regardless what any lawyer says, cyclists don't have the right to the road. But this is only their first argument.
Next cyclists will tell you that bike infrastructure is cheap and that we need more of it. Ironic coming from a crowd that doesn't even use the bike lanes they already have! All they really want to do is declare war on cars. And I'm not having it.
They'll try to tell you that bike lanes are cheap to build but what they won't tell you is how much it costs per user. But what's especially pathetic is when they say highway expansions don't reduce traffic - of course they do, it's just common sense! Well, news flash, cyclists: Induced demand applies to bike lanes too!
These people say they want to not get hit by cars but then they turn around and demand infrastructure that'll prevent them from getting hit by cars. Like, what? They don't even pay road tax! In the United States we have gas tax, which covers our road cost. But cyclists don't pay anything.
I once heard a cyclist claim they pay for my roads. Can you imagine?! They really need to get a grip on reality!
We all know that everyone can afford to drive, and everyone is physically capable of driving. If you're powering your vehicle with your own effort it's because you're lazy and don't want to pay for the right to drive. And yes, driving is a right, as ruled by the supreme court in 2015.
Building infrastructure to accommodate other forms of transportation only punishes drivers for being law-abiding citizens, unlike these cyclists who can't even be bothered to stop at stop signs or follow any of the rules!
These lawless renegade cyclists are nothing but a burden on our society. They need to be stopped, before the United States starts to look like the complete dystopia that is The Netherlands, where drivers have to deal with constant frustrations and driving is horrible! They're indoctrinating us into their cult of bike lanes and it can only end poorly, for safety, for local businesses, and for the environment. So stop forcing bikes onto cities!
If you want to stop the tyranny, spread the message by linking this article to your friends. Together we can make our roads better for drivers, by keeping these entitled cyclists on the sidewalk where they belong!
